Concerts, where the accordion is allowed to shine as the protagonist, are a rarity in classical music—reason enough for the dogma chamber orchestra to take up this cause. The orchestra, which already proved its love of combining different styles last season, is not thinking in pigeonholes this year either. It is proven by the choice of this year's playing partner, Martynas Levickis: the accordion. The accordion soloist is now not only one of the most sought-after interpreters in his field but has also made it his mission to give the often underestimated instrument the reputation it deserves. This shared curiosity about playing is audible in the selection of works: Rhythmic sounds, such as in Richard Galliano's »Opale Concerto«, are juxtaposed with elegant orchestral compositions in a harmonious overall concept that demonstrates the versatility of classical music and its interpreters.
