Get to know our artists better

Residences

Our residencies allow you to experience selected artists on several evenings in Ludwigsburg. In 2024, you can be thrilled by the two ensembles VOCES8 and Mahler Chamber Orchestra as well as the pianist Fazıl Say several times.

[This text has been translated electronically] In the first week of the festival, we will be hosting our first artist in residence: Fazıl Say. The extraordinary musician will perform a total of three concerts, demonstrating his versatile skills as a performer, composer and improviser. The first concert will be the European premiere of his Turkish song cycle »Dünya Anne« at «Fazıl Say Friends«. With a meet & greet and a «Latenight« full of jazz improvisations ends this expansive evening. The following day, Fazıl Say will perform a solo concert classical and his own piano works in a solo concert, rounding off his stay.

With two concerts, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in Ludwigsburg for the third time. On June 23 the orchestra will perform music from the Romantic period by Louise Farrenc, Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms. Together with the first-class violinist Renaud Capuçon and the passionate conductor Anja Bihlmaier the works shine in their full orchestral splendor. You can also find out what young people from the region have to say on the subject of home. The participatory project »What does home sound like?« integrates young people's perspectives into a program that explores belonging with music by Béla Bartók and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, among others.

[This text has been translated electronically] Shortly before the end of the festival season, we can look forward to the last residency: the British vocal ensemble VOCES8 will delight us with a cappella music in its three July concerts. The first project takes place on July 13 for the first time with their colleagues from Chanticleer from San Francisco and will present a cross-section of music from the Renaissance to the present day. In the participatory project «VOCES8 Sing Along« the ensemble sings together with a Ludwigsburg project choir. This fulfilling weekend will be rounded off with a concert at the historic burial chapel in Stuttgart.
