Fazıl Say

Pianist, Composer

With his extraordinary pianistic ability, Fazıl Say has been touching audiences and critics alike for more than 25 years. The Turkish musician's concerts stand out from the otherwise elaborately organised world of classical music because of their direct, open design. Since the beginning of his career, he has played with many renowned orchestras and conductors, building up a diverse repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music – including his piano compositions. Say has also composed commissioned works for orchestras and festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Munich Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the BBC. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician on five continents and counts Maxim Vengerov, Nicolas Altstaedt, the Minetti Quartet, and Patricia Kopatchinskaja among his musical partners. With the latter violinist, the multiple ECHO KLASSIK prize winner released a recording of sonatas by Bartók, Janáček and Brahms in 2023. Particularly appreciated as an artist in residence, Fazıl Say will be Spotlight Artist at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in the 2023/24 season and will also arrange several concerts in Ludwigsburg.
