Fazıl Say Piano
Even as a child, Fazıl Say loved composing and playing the piano in equal measure. The Turkish musician has since become a master at merging both identities. In his solo program, he not only presents his works, but also completely reinvents sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven – with an appetite for risk and without shying away from the unusual. Say has been internationally acclaimed for this refreshing concert practice since the 1990s, as he recently did in New York's Carnegie Hall. However, he not only knows how to mediate between composition and piano playing but also between Turkish and European music. In Ludwigsburg, the bridge-builder par excellence can be seen on several occasions and ends his artist residency in this solo setting.
