Benjamin Appl Baritone
Simon Lepper Piano
Vocal students of the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts (HMDK)
The student becomes the teacher – and in turn learns from his students. Benjamin Appl had only four years between his private lessons with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and the start of his own professorship in London. Since 2016, the baritone has been teaching at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and also passes on his knowledge at international workshops and master classes. »The wonderful thing about teaching is that you learn so much about yourself. I see teaching as learning«, Appl explains in an interview with Klassik Radio. You can get an insight into such a trusting and inspiring teaching situation at the public masterclass on 14 July. With selected voice students from the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts (HMDK), he will work on fine-tuning their song interpretations for 30 to 45 minutes each. For interested listeners, the class is open to the public; admission is possible at any time during the afternoon.
