As an innovative musician and advocate of his instrument, Xavier de Maistre is constantly expanding the harp repertoire with new compositions and transcriptions. The harpist delights audiences on large stages and top-class festivals. He is regularly invited by first-class orchestras around the world and works with renowned conductors such as Sir André Previn, Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti and Daniele Gatti. In his native France, he regularly gives recitals in the opera houses from Lille to Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Nice to Avignon. He is also appreciated alongside Diana Damrau, Arabella Steinbacher, Daniel Müller-Schott, Baiba Skride and Antoine Tamestit. The harpist toured Europe, Japan and China with the flamenco and castanet legend Lucero Tena with Spanish repertoire. In 2020, he began a project with the tenor Rolando Villazón, which resulted in an album of South American folk songs for Deutsche Grammophon. He has been teaching at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater since 2001. Xavier de Maistre plays a Lyon & Healy instrument.
