Martina Gedeck is one of Germany's most distinguished and famous actress. She is equally successful in theatre and film, even if her work focuses on film. The film industry has celebrated her with almost every major film award, from the Grimme Prize to the Star on the Boulevard of Stars. Above all, her performances in »Bella Martha«, the Oscar-winning film »The Lives of Others« and the Oscar-nominated »The Baader Meinhof Complex« have won worldwide acclaim. She most recently played the title role in Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's »Minna von Barnhelm« at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. In January 2020, she played the white woman in Beat Furrer’s opera »Violetter Schnee« at the Staatsoper Berlin. Performing with musicians also takes a special role in her artistic work, including collaborations with harpist Xavier de Maistre and the Schumann Quartet.
