What does the word "home" mean to you?

Home can be a place, a smell, music or a certain feeling.  The Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) explores the question of and belonging musically and plays music by Béla Bartók, Dmitri Shostakovich and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. While Bartók wanted to bring of his homeland to the world, Shostakovich’s relationship with his country was to his country is shattered. Between these two poles lies Mozart’s overture, which has been of particular importance to the orchestra since it celebrated its first international success with it in 1998,  shortly after it was founded.

Are you a teacher and interested in taking part with your class?

The program is aimed at school classes aged between 14 and 19 years and is suitable for a wide range of subjects. The MCO has compiled teaching material on the historical and political context of the musical works, which teachers can use and work on as they wish.
