In 2024, the internationally renowned Mahler Chamber Orchestra will will be our guest in Ludwigsburg and, among other things, present its exciting, participatory concert project »Welcome Home!« on June 24, 11:30 am.
Home can be a place, a smell, music or a certain feeling. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) explores the question of and belonging musically and plays music by Béla Bartók, Dmitri Shostakovich and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. While Bartók wanted to bring of his homeland to the world, Shostakovich’s relationship with his country was to his country is shattered. Between these two poles lies Mozart’s overture, which has been of particular importance to the orchestra since it celebrated its first international success with it in 1998, shortly after it was founded.
The program is aimed at school classes aged between 14 and
19 years and is suitable for a wide range of subjects. The MCO has compiled teaching material
on the historical and political context of the musical works,
which teachers can use and work on as they wish.
The school classes are invited to answer questions and send in their answers as audio recordings or texts. A selection of the will be included in the concert.
The concert will take place on June 24 at 11:30 a.m. in the Forum im Schlosspark, lasts about an hour and is moderated by the orchestra. Tickets cost €8 for pupils, for accompanying teachers admission is free of charge. Contact education@schlossfestspiele.de for further information and the teaching material.
