Liam Byrne plays it both: very old and very new music on the viola da gamba. Therefore, he is constantly creating new music for his 17th-century instrument, with composers, folk musicians and electronic musicians such as Nico Muhly, Donnacha Dennehy and David Lang. Also, collaborations with lutenist Jonas Nordberg and violinist and composer Cleek Schrey are particularly close to his heart. Liam Byrne regularly works with leading European early music ensembles such as Huelgas Ensemble and Ensemble Continuum. He has created original sound installations for the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Dulwich Picture Gallery. Liam Byrne is a member of the Icelandic artist collective Bedroom Community, with whom he released his first solo album »Concrete« in 2019.
