Our annual trip to picturesque Wolfegg in the Allgäu region has tradition. This year, we will once again spend a weekend here in September. Join us for rousing orchestral sounds with accordion accordion, a matinee with Bach’s cello suites, and heavenly a cappella concert.
Not only the location
of the first concert on September 14 but also the instrument of soloist Martynas Levickis
is unusual: the accordion only shines as a protagonist in a few concerts in the classical
music world, in the Knights’ Hall at Wolfegg Castle you can hear
rhythmic sounds and elegant compositions by Mozart, Piazzolla, and Galliano. The dogma chamber orchestra gives the often
often underestimated instrument the respect it deserves and finds in Martynas Levickis
one of the most sought-after interpreters in his field. The stately hall, adorned with baroque ceiling frescoes, is only open to the public on selected occasions, such as the concerts of the Schlossfestspiele.
With a matinee on the morning of September 15, the outstanding cellist Sebastian Klinger invites us to enjoy contemplative, dreamy, and highly virtuoso moments in his world of Bach and presents three of six cello suites - the supreme discipline within Bach’s solo cello works. In the Romanesque first church of Wolfegg, the Alte Pfarr, these works can be heard in an extraordinary, intimate setting.
To round off the concert weekend, the a-cappella ensemble Sjaella will fill the magnificent baroque church of St. Katharina with their voices on Sunday evening. The six singers move between early music, folk tunes
of different cultures, and contemporary vocal compositions and invite you to contemplate with their beguiling sound profile.
