Fazıl Say kicked off his residency at the Ludwigsburg Festival with the European premiere of his song cycle »Dünya Anne« (World Mother) and a late-night piano recital. Listen to both concerts (again) on SWR Kultur.
Combined
with a meet & greet, the festival audience was treated to a diverse
concert evening. The evening began with the Turkish song cycle, for
which Fazıl Say set eleven poems by important female poets to music to
mark the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.
Elements
of jazz, pop, Turkish folklore, and classical music ensured a varied
evening and enthusiastic guests.
This was followed by a solo late-night concert with own works, Chopin, Satie, Gershwin and Mozart.
