Festival week number seven!

The seventh festival week – Voces8, Chanticleer, Martina Gedeck and Xavier de Maistre

In this penultimate week of the festival, we are pulling out all the stops once again: after a final concert in the Ordenssaal with actress Martina Gedeck and star harpist Xavier de Maistre, the VOCES8 artist residency begins this weekend! At »Voces8 Meets Chanticleer« is a summit meeting of a cappella singing of a cappella singing with the US colleagues from Chanticleer in the Friedenkirche. We are also looking forward to the project »VOCES8 Sing Along« on Sunday - starting at 3 pm so as not to clash with the final match of the European Football Championship. On Monday evening, we will celebrate the end of the artist residency with the »VOCES8 Evening Song« and ring in the last week of the festival with an open-air evening at the Grabkapelle Stuttgart in a relaxed, summery atmosphere.

»Licht und Schatten« in the Ordenssaal

The Ordenssaal concert series comes to a worthy close on Thursday, July 11, with the internationally successful actress Martina Gedeck and star harpist Xavier de Maistre. For the last time this season, the historic hall will be brought to life with a literary and musical evening: the »Licht und Schatten« program will take you into the world of words and emotions of popular writers such as Oscar Wilde, Rainer Maria Rilke and Else Lasker-Schüler. We look forward to an evening full of touching stories and thoughts!

VOCES8 artist residency


This week has a lot to offer vocally! The last artist residency of the season is coming up and we are looking forward to the famous British vocal ensemble Voces8!


On Saturday, July 13, the «Voces8 Meets Chanticleer« is the summit meeting of a cappella singing with their US-American colleagues from Chanticleer in the Friedenskirche in Ludwigsburg, where the entire vocal spectrum from the from the Renaissance to the present day.


On Sunday, July 14, a sing-along project will follow in the Speisewerk on the urbanharbor site: the project choir will perform the jointly rehearsed works together with VOCES8, and the vocal ensemble will also be heard once again on its own.
In order not to clash with the the final match of the European Football Championship, this concert will begin in the afternoon at 3 p.m. afternoon at 3 p. m. – the best way to get in the mood for the fan fan chants.


Tickets are still available from 10 euros.

Its The artist residency comes to a truly uplifting conclusion on Monday, July 15. July, at the Stuttgarter Grabkapelle on the Württemberg. The two-part evening with «Evening Songs« will first be dedicated to sacred works inside the chapel, for example by Thomas Tallis and Arvo Pärt. Afterwards, the vocal ensemble will let us into the evening with popular works in an open-air setting with a relaxed summer atmosphere and a sweeping view over Stuttgart.


Both parts of the concert are already sold out; remaining tickets may still be still available at the box office.

»Free Air Music« in the academy courtyard


Our classic has temporarily found a new venue: Due to the BarockLauf, which starts this week at the Marktplatz, we are moving our weekly open-air concert on Friday, July 12 from the Marktplatz to the Akademiehof (under the tent roof next to the Caligari cinema).


At this little »away game« we will listen to the band PHI in a relaxed atmosphere in the courtyard of the ADK!

We are looking forward to a fusion of soul, funk, rock and indie. Handmade, self-written songs with English lyrics about true-to-life snapshots meet emotions and pure joy of playing!
