Lawrence Power

Violist

Lawrence Power is one of the leading violists of the present day and is equally in demand as a soloist and chamber music partner. He performs worldwide with the leading orchestras and regularly collaborates as a chamber musician with Vilde Frang, Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, Nicholas Altstaedt, or Antti Siirala. He is also a member of the Nash Ensemble. Through his passionate advocacy of new music, Power has expanded the viola repertoire to include many works by the best contemporary composers, premiered many works, and commissioned some himself through his Viola Commissioning Circle. Power is the founder and artistic director of the West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival and the music production company Âme Productions. He was honoured with the Royal Philharmonic Society's Instrumentalist Award 2020. Lawrence Power is a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts. He plays a viola by Antonio Brenzi (1590) and an Amati viola (1580) from the Karolina Blaberg Foundation.
