Kronos Quartet

David Harrington and John Sherba (Violin), Hank Dutt (Viola), Sunny Yang (Violoncello)

Founded by David Harrington in 1973, the San Francisco-based Kronos Quartet has long made its mark on the international music scene with concerts worldwide and over 60 recordings. The ensemble has collaborated with renowned contemporary composers, including Philip Glass, Steve Reich, and Aleksandra Vrebalov. The quartet received awards for its recordings of Terry Riley's »Sun Rings« and Alban Berg's »Lyrische Suite« with Dawn Upshaw. Through the annual Kronos Festival and educational formats such as »50 for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire«, the ensemble strengthens contemporary chamber music.
