Luciana Mancini

Mezzo-soprano

The Chilean-Swedish mezzo-soprano Luciana Mancini has established herself as an expressive interpreter of baroque music, being equally experienced in classical music through world premieres of contemporary compositions. Most recently she performed the title role in Gioachino Rossini's »La Cenerentola« at the Theater Bonn, as Ottavia/Virtu in Claudio Monteverdi's »L'Incoronazione di Poppea« with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Ivan Fischer, and at the Opéra Comique in Paris in Monteverdi's »L'Orfeo« conducted by Jordi Savall. Mancini's success as the title role in Astor Piazzolla's »Maria de Buenos Aires« is also recorded on CD with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn. She works with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, Ensemble Pygmalion, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic a.o. To the Ludwigsburg audience, she is familiar through her performances with L'Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar. Mancini will be guesting for the fourth time in 2022 in the choreographic opera »Dido and Aeneas« by Sasha Waltz.
