At the last festival, we enjoyed listening to the Four Seasons by Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. With their concert in June 2026, the LGT Young Soloists will now take us through the Italian seasons, as once famously depicted in music by Antonio Vivaldi. The young international musicians perform solo concerts worldwide, switching between solo and accompanying roles. Their winning formula ensures a balanced dynamic and a diverse sound journey, as they will also demonstrate on 25 June at the end of their several-day stay in Ludwigsburg. While the first half of the concert features Vivaldi’s virtuosic »Four Seasons«, the second half offers a more reflective experience. »Most people today have no faith, no love and no ideals anymore. […] I want to nourish the soul«, explains Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks about his creative motivation. This is also evident in the second cello concerto, which Vasks composed in 2012 for Sol Gabetta, who premiered it in Ludwigsburg, Germany, that same year. The intense, contemplative, and highly expressive piece is titled »Klātbūtne« (Presence/Presentness), and the LGT Young Soloists deliver it in a compelling performance. An evening full of contrasts.
