Jorine van Beek studied costume design at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design and at the Wimbledon School of Arts in London. As a Costume designer, she operates internationally and encompasses the world of dance, theatre, film, art, and opera in her work. She has designed costumes for productions at several opera houses, including the Volksoper Wien, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Theater an der Wien, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Israeli Opera, the Staatsoper Hannover, and the Opéra national de Paris. In 2006, she received the Edmond Hustinx Prize for Visual Arts. The costumes, designed by Jorine van Beek, always have a refined, theatrical characteristic. The costume designer describes her work as follows: »While working, I try to create a tension field between the theatricality from the costumes and the materials. I am very much inspired by visual arts, literature, music, but also by ordinary life.«
