Passion, joy of playing, authenticity – these are the musical cornerstones of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (FBO). For more than three decades, it has been one of the most renowned original sound ensembles in the world and has performed in leading concert halls such as the Lincoln Center New York, the Elbphilharmonie, the Musikverein Vienna, and the Philharmonie de Paris. The baroque orchestra is also a popular guest at festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, and the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. The musical responsibility lies with Cecilia Bernardini and Gottfried von der Goltz, leading the ensemble from the violin. For selected opera and romantic symphony programmes, the orchestra works with conductors such as Pablo Heras-Casado, René Jacobs, and Sir Simon Rattle. The 2025/26 season will feature a number of high-profile opera collaborations, including the Ludwigsburg production of »Didone abbandonata« and a new production of Handel’s »Tamerlano« at the Karlsruhe Handel Festival. Concert programmes at the Lake Constance Festival in Freiburg, Stuttgart, and Berlin, as well as a tour of Belgium and Spain, round out the season.
