Italian conductor, harpsichordist, and organist Francesco Corti studied in Perugia, Geneva, and Amsterdam, receiving awards at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig and the Harpsichord Competition in Bruges. He has performed on major international stages, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Barbican Centre, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie and the Teatro Real in Madrid. Since 2018, he has been the Principal Guest Conductor of Il Pomo d’Oro, with whom he has toured Europe performing operatic milestones of the baroque repertoire, with singers such as Joyce DiDonato, Sabine Devieihle, Jakub Orlinski and Michael Spyres. His guest engagements include the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Basel and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestras and the Monteverdi Choir. He has served as Music Director at the Drottningholm Royal Court Theatre since January 2023. The 2025/26 season will feature Mozart’s »Don Giovanni«, Handel’s »Giulio Cesare«, Telemann’s »Otto«, and Monteverdi’s »L’incoronazione di Poppea« at Drottningholm, as well as Corti’s debut at the Dutch National Opera with »Le Nozze di Figaro«.
