The dancer and choreographer was born in the port city of Heraklion on Crete and studied dance at the Thessalian Ballet in Larisa, the Ballet School of the Greek National Opera and the National School of Dance in Athens. As a scholarship holder, the young Greek graduated from the London Contemporary Dance School with a Master of Arts in Contemporary Dance. Since 2013, Gouvi has performed in numerous Sasha Waltz Company projects, including »Allee der Kosmonauten«, »Tannhäuser« and »Remains«. She moved to Berlin in 2015, followed by successful engagements at the Staatstheater Mainz, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Staatsoper Berlin, the Staatsoper Hannover and collaborations with choreographers such as Charlotte Engelkes in Sweden and Konstantinos Rigos in Greece. Her recent project »XΩΜΑΤΑ/SOIL« with the visual artist Martin Wöllenstein combines choreographic design with photography.
