Accordion player Martynas Levickis is helping his instrument gain new renown. At eight, he attended the S. Sondeckis School of the Arts in his Lithuanian hometown of Šiauliai and finished studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Levickis' stellar career as an ambassador for the accordion took off when he won the casting show Lithuania's Got Talent in 2010. A debut album on Decca Classics, which reached number one on the British charts, followed his television success. His international honours include first place at the Coupe Mondiale World Accordion Championships and being named »Instrumentalist of the Year 2023« by OPUS KLASSIK. As a welcome guest at renowned venues and festivals, he plays with musical partners such as Andris Nelsons, Benjamin Appl, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the NDR Radiophilharmonie, and the Kammerakademie Potsdam. His artist portrait will appear on ARTE in 2024.
