The 2022 season kicks off on May 5 at 8 p.m. with the »Fest Spiel Ouvertüre« with conductor Oksana Lyniv, pianist Iddo Bar-Shaï and our Festival Orchestra at the Forum am Schlosspark. This will be followed on May 6 by two musical highlights: The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine will perform at 6 p.m. at »Frei Luft Musik« on Ludwigsburg’s market square. At 8 p.m. the classical greats Isabelle Faust, Sol Gabetta, Kristian Bezuidenhout as well as the Basel Chamber Orchestra under the musical direction of Giovanni Antonini will be guests at the Forum am Schlosspark.

The still young, up-and-coming pianist Alexandre Kantorow, winner of the prestigious Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, will perform on May 7 at 8 p.m. with his solo evening in the Ordenssaal. On the same evening, the Festival Center will open with an acoustic broadcast of Kantorov’s concert. The virtual reality production »Future Presence Mozart« by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra opens up a new perspective on chamber music and can be seen on May 7 and 8 in the Festinbau of the palace. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) will perform two concerts on May 8 in the Ordenssaal of the Residenzschloss: »Mozart String Quintet« as a matinee at 11 a.m., and »Mozart Clarinet Quintet « in the evening at 7 p.m. In addition, on May 11 at 8 p.m., the MCO will be at the premiere of Patricia Kopatchinskaja’s »Les Adieux,« a staged a staged musical performance of Beethoven’s »Pastorale.«

With the students’ project »Earth to Future,« a cooperation with the International Bach Academy and the Gaechinger Cantorey, the second festival week of the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele will begin on May 9.
