Option 2C: DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH String Quartet No. 7 in F-sharp minor, op. 108

With only three movements and a playing time of about twelve minutes, the seventh string quartet is the shortest of Dmitri Shostakovich’s 15 string quartets, but no less haunting for that. The work in F-sharp minor strikes plaintive, agitated and eerie notes with elegiac individual motives, which come to rest in the last part of the final movement.
