Option 2A: FELIX MENDELSSOHN-BARTHOLDY String Quartet No. 3 in D major, op. 44/1

The D major String Quartet from Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Opus 44, which includes two other quartets, is exceptionally virtuosic and subtle. In this first of the three quartets, the first violin acts almost concertante, creating in virtuosic glee, together with the second violin, viola and cello – a colourful and brilliant work that made a significant mark on the canon of the late 19th century.
