Ragnhild Hemsing Violin & Hardanger fiddle
Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn
Fairytale landscapes where mystical inhabitants, such as elves and gnomes, are said to roam: the deeply rooted connection between the natural beauty of the north and its folk legends has inspired numerous composers to create atmospheric works. Among them were Jean Sibelius and Edvard Grieg, who extensively explored the traditional soundscapes, folk dances, and myths of their homelands in their artistic work. Grieg’s compositions, in particular, still resonate today as a musical reflection of the North. Ragnhild Hemsing also takes us to the north and »back to the roots«. Deeply connected to her Norwegian heritage, the violinist has set out to continue writing the history of her homeland. The traditional Hardanger fiddle serves as a fitting companion, with which she embarks on an emotional musical journey of discovery.
