Knights' Hall | St. Katharina | Alte Pfarr
The charming and idyllically located Wolfegg in the Allgäu region has been an outdoor venue for the Ludwigsburg Festival since 1984. Every year in September, following the festival season in Ludwigsburg, up to three outstanding concerts take place here. A weekend visit to Ludwigsburg is therefore worthwhile in three ways.
Wolfegg Castle is once again opening the doors to its stately Knights’ Hall this season, with its 24 larger-than-life knight statues and baroque ceiling frescoes, which combine to create a magnificent backdrop.
The Baroque church of St. Katharina, built in the 18th century, also creates the perfect atmosphere for mostly sacred works, thanks to its impressive ceiling frescoes and magnificent historic organ.
Finally, the Alte Pfarr, a Romanesque church in Wolfegg built in 861 and featuring 14th-century frescoes, provides an incomparable setting for the concerts of the Ludwigsburg Festival.
