The new poet of Música Popular Brasileira
On the second of the Festival-Nights, the Ludwigsburg Festival takes you on a journey from Europe to South America – from the melancholic depths of Portuguese fado to the lively poetry of Brazilian »Música Popular Brasileira«. The singer Carminho is hailed as the great voice of her country. Celebrated internationally as the embodiment of the Portuguese attitude to life, the »saudade«, she opens the evening with songs full of longing, intensity, and joie de vivre. In her emotional interpretations, she blends tradition with the present, intimacy with grand gestures. Alongside Portuguese folklore, she also weaves in Spanish influences, and her renditions of classics by bossa nova legend Tom Jobim and songs by Marisa Monte reveal her deep connection to Brazil. Amidst these musical worlds, Wanda Moretti and her company Il Posto create a stunning vertical dialogue between dance and architecture on the façade of the Karlskaserne in »Variazioni Verticali«. For the finale, Brazilian singer-songwriter Zé Ibarra – nominated for the Latin Grammy 2025 – infuses the festival summer with the lightness of Rio through his warm voice and keen sense of melody and rhythm.
The concert is not seated, but seating is available on the grounds of the Kunstzentrum Karlskaserne. There will also be a wide range of food and drink on offer.
