As the oldest boys’ choir in southwestern Germany, the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben, with its approximately 130 young singers, is an integral part of Stuttgart’s cultural offerings. The choir was founded in 1900, modelled on the THOMANERCHOR Leipzig (St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig) and the Dresden Kreuzchor. Since then, the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben have contributed to the diversity of church music in their home city through their exceptional sound in around 50 concerts and church services each year, and can also be heard regularly on concert tours at home and abroad. The repertoire focuses on sacred vocal music and includes a cappella works from the early Baroque to the present day, as well as oratorios, passions, and cantatas. Numerous recordings, radio and television appearances document the choir’s varied work. The choir collaborates regularly with the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester and the Handel’s Company Orchestra for Early Music.
