Soloist and chamber musician on violin and viola, ensemble founder, concertmaster, and professor: versatility and creativity are at the forefront of Michael Barenboim’s work. As a soloist, he performs with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Chamber music also plays a significant role in Michael Barenboim’s concert activities. Under his direction, the distinguished West-Eastern Divan Orchestra has toured Asia, North America, and Europe. With his newly established Nasmé Ensemble, Barenboim is also working to raise the profile of Palestinian musicians and artists. Following his deepest convictions, he is passionately involved with contemporary music and has already premiered numerous new compositions, including works by Jörg Widmann, Kareem Roustom, and Matthias Pintscher. As professor of violin and ensemble playing at the Barenboim-Said Academy, he is especially dedicated to the universal education of his students.
