Marcos Morau, who studied photography, movement, and theatre in Barcelona and New York, creates imaginary worlds and landscapes where movement and image meet and intertwine. For over ten years, he has been directing La Veronal as a director, choreographer, and stage, costume, and lighting designer. His work has been performed in more than thirty countries and continues to inspire new audiences in ever-changing venues. Besides his work with La Veronal, Marcos Morau is a guest artist with various companies and theatres worldwide, including Nederlands Dans Theater, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Compañía Nacional de Danza, Ballet du Rhin, Royal Danish Ballet, Scapino Ballet, Carte Blanche, Ballet de Lorraine, and the ballet companies of the opera houses in Lyon, Gothenburg, and Lucerne. He was named Best Choreographer of the Year 2023 by the German Critics’ Association for the magazine Tanz and is an associate artist at the new Staatsballett Berlin, where he has premiered a new work every year since 2024.
