Countertenor Jake Ingbar, from Minneapolis, studied at the Juilliard School in New York and Rice University in Houston and has furthered his career at leading opera houses and festivals, including the San Francisco Opera, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Semperoper Dresden, and the Salzburg Festival. Recent highlights include remarkable debuts with the Nederlandse Reisopera as Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with the Cappella Mediterranea, as the Witch of Endor in Händel’s Saul in Dresden, and as Nireno in Giulio Cesare in Salzburg. This season, Ingbar makes his debut at English National Opera as Armindo in the Olivier Award-winning and British press-acclaimed production of Partenope. He will also appear at the London Handel Festival as Andronico in Tamerlano under the baton of Laurence Cummings and as alto soloist in Bach’s St John Passion under the baton of Richard Gower. This season, he returns to both the Semperoper Dresden and the Metropolitan Opera.
