One of the most sought-after artists of her generation, Elim Chan embodies the spirit of contemporary orchestral conducting with her crystal-clear precision and expressive zeal. She has served as a guest conductor for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and has been principal conductor of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. She has collaborated with soloists including Sol Gabetta and Midori, and has made debuts at the Salzburger Festspiele, with the Orchestre de Paris, the Staatskapellen Berlin and Dresden, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Re-invitations took her to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Oslo Philharmonic and the Philharmonia Orchestra in London. In 2023, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León announced a three-year collaboration with Chan as Associate Conductor. A native of Hong Kong, she was the first female winner of the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in 2014, which enabled her to work as an assistant conductor at the London Symphony Orchestra, closely collaborating with Valery Gergiev.
