The Hungarian soprano Csilla Boross studied piano and voice at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Her international career began in 2010 with her performance as Violetta in Verdi’s »La traviata« in Trieste, as well as with her U.S. debut as Abigaille in »Nabucco«. Her breakthrough occurred the following year under Riccardo Muti, when she performed Abigaille alongside Leo Nucci for the 150th anniversary of Italian unification – a production broadcast worldwide. Since then, she has performed at the Washington National Opera, the Rome Opera, Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, among others. As a dramatic soprano, Csilla Boross is especially comfortable in the works of Verdi and Puccini. She maintains close ties with the Hungarian State Opera and the Janáček Theatre in Brno, where she was honored with the Thalia Prize for her interpretation of »Madama Butterfly«. For her role as Amelia in »Un ballo in maschera«, she received the Australian Green Room Award, and she now returns to the stage of the Mannheim National Theater with Verdi’s »Nabucco«.
