Swiss conductor Christian Erny is known for his stylistic versatility and programmatic creativity, which are reflected in the various roles he pursued before becoming a conductor: as a pianist, choir singer, and member of a punk rock band. As a conductor, he has established himself in both the symphonic and vocal repertoire, with a particular focus on contemporary music and Mozart. With the Zurich Chamber Singers, which he founded, he is organizing a four-part season in 2025/26, to be performed at venues including the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Sendesaal Bremen, and Klosters Music, featuring two world premieres. His recent highlights include the world premiere of Alfred Felder’s opera »Walpurgisnacht« and the first recording of Paul Mealor’s choral opera »The Light of Paradise«. Christian Erny also collaborates with composers such as Caroline Shaw, Burkhard Kinzler, and Rhiannon Randle. In the symphonic field, he works with the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester Mannheim, the Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra, the Argovia Philharmonic, and the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, among others.
