Born in 1995, harpsichordist Alexander von Heißen completed his concert exam in 2022 at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts in the class of Prof. Eva Maria Pollerus. In the same year, he won first prize at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig. He refined his artistic skills through international masterclasses with Jesper Christensen, Pierre Hantaï, Skip Sempé, and Christophe Rousset, among others. In 2018, he received second prize at the Musica Antiqua international harpsichord competition in Bruges. As a soloist and chamber music collaborator, he regularly performs with renowned artists such as Dorothee Oberlinger, Reinhard Goebel, Luca Pianca, Christoph Prégardien, and Michael Schneider, and has appeared as a guest with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. He has held teaching roles at the music academies in Cologne and Frankfurt am Main. In the winter semester of 2024/25, he took up a professorship in harpsichord and historical keyboard instruments at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. He also frequently teaches masterclasses, including at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at music academies across Poland.
