As a specialist in 17th- and 18th-century music, Marie Luise Werneburg is one of the most sought-after soloists in her field worldwide. She has collaborated closely with conductors such as Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Philippe Herreweghe, Rudi Lutz, and Hans-Christoph Rademann. She performs with leading early music ensembles such as Collegium Vocale Gent, the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Bach Foundation St. Gallen, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Weser Renaissance Bremen, Musica Fiata Cologne, and Continuum Berlin. Marie Luise’s artistic work is documented in over 50 audio and video recordings. Her extensive discography also includes her own song projects, such as the first recordings of songs by the Dresden composer Johann Gottlieb Naumann with the hammer piano virtuoso Sebastian Knebel, and »Diaphenia«, a collection of English love songs set to music spanning three centuries. Raised in a Dresden parsonage with a background in music and theology, Marie Luise studied church music and voice in Dresden and Bremen. She taught as a lecturer at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and gave master classes in Tokyo, Japan.
