In 2005, Marcos Morau founded his company La Veronal. Alongside him, Lorena Nogal, Shay Partush, Jon López and Miguel Ángel Corbacho also contributed to »Afanador«.
Lorena Nogal
Lorena Nogal completed her dance training at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and joined the IT Dansa company after graduating in 2005. There, she worked with renowned choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Alexander Ekman, Jirí Kylián, and Nacho Duato. Since 2008, she has been part of the artistic team at La Veronal, working as a choreographer and dancer with Marcos Morau on both internal and external productions for companies like the Royal Danish Ballet, the Beijing Dance Theatre, and the Zurich Ballet. In 2016, she was named Best Dancer at the Premios de la Crítica de Cataluña. In 2024, the Premio Butaca and Premio Nacional de Danza awarded her Best Actress in »Firmamento«. The following year, »Afanador«, a collaborative choreography with La Veronal, received the Talía Prize and the Best Choreography Award at the Premios de la Crítica de Cataluña. In addition to her own choreographies such as »El elogio de la fisura«, »Alegorías«, and »Aquí«, she dedicates herself to courses on the KOVA method, a movement language she developed together with La Veronal.
Shay Partush
Shay Partush is a dancer and choreographic assistant. Born in Jerusalem, he trained as a gymnast before switching to dance and starting his professional career with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC). After dancing with Noord Nederlands Dans (NND), he began his freelance career in Amsterdam, working with La Veronal, Dunja Jocic, Eyal Dadon, Arno Schuitemaker, Anouk van Dijk, and Falk Richter. As an assistant to Marcos Morau, he has worked on productions for the Nederlands Dans Theater, the Staatsballett Berlin, the Opéra National de Lyon, the Zurich Opera Ballet, the Ballet Nacional de España, and the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, among others.
Jon López
Jon López completed his training as a dancer in his hometown of Madrid. In 2013, he joined the Ballet de la Generalitat in Valencia, where he rehearsed repertoire by choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Davy Brun, and Nacho Duato. In 2015, he became a member of the La Veronal company under Marcos Morau’s direction. As part of the artistic team, he worked as a dancer and assistant in various productions, touring to cities like Paris, London, Luxembourg, and Berlin. In 2016, López founded the Led Silhouette company with Martxel Rodriguez and began his career as a choreographer. Since then, his works have been featured at festivals including Madrid en Danza, Le Temps d’Aimer la danse, Festival Quincena de Dança Almada, and Festival Internazionale Nuova Danza. His latest work, »Los Perros«, a collaboration with Marcos Morau, received the Catalan Critics’ Prize for Best Choreography in 2023.
Miguel Ángel Corbacho
Miguel Ángel Corbacho joined the Compañía Andaluza de Danza under the direction of José Antonio in 1999. Five years later, he was hired as a solo dancer with the Ballet Nacional de España. For the creation and interpretation of the piece »XY un instante en movimiento« with original music by Lehonidas Boskovec, Miguel Ángel Corbacho won first prize for best choreography and the prize for music composition at the Madrid Choreography Competition in 2008. Since September 2012, Miguel Ángel Corbacho has been artistic director of the Entredos Ballet Español company alongside Elena Algado, choreographer of the production »Silencios rotos« and, since 2019, assistant director at the Ballet Nacional de España under the direction of Rubén Olmo. He is also part of La Veronal, a company that developed Afanador with Marcos Morau. In 2025, the group led by Marcos Morau received the award for best choreography at the Premios de la Crítica de Cataluña and the Premio Talía for best show dance for this piece.
