Roderich Kreile was born in Munich, where he studied church music and professional choir conducting. He then held several church music positions before working at Christuskirche in Munich from 1981 to 1996. During this period, he also taught choir conducting at the University of Music in Munich and led the Munich Philharmonic Choir. In 1996, he was appointed Kreuzkantor in Dresden, where he served as the artistic director of the Dresden Kreuzchor for over 25 years. This role led to vibrant collaborations with orchestras, including the Dresden Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle in Dresden, Weimar, Halle, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Under the direction of Roderich Kreile, the choir participated in national and international tours and released numerous recordings. Since 2025, Roderich Kreile has been leading the ensemble Cappella vocale Würzburg. He is also a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts and serves as vice chairman of the New Bach Society.
