Marc Minkowski initially studied bassoon before turning to conducting. At the age of 19, he founded the ensemble Les Musiciens du Louvre, which he continues to conduct artistically to this day. He is now a highly sought-after conductor across Europe, regularly performing in major music capitals such as Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, London, and Salzburg. Minkowski has conducted some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In the 2025/26 season, Minkowski will focus on several opera productions, including »Robinson Crusoe« at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, »La Clemenza di Tito« at the Zurich Opera House, »Così fan tutte« at the Staatsoper unter den Linden, and concert performances of Handel’s »Orlando« with Les Musiciens du Louvre. In 2011, he founded the Ré Majeure festival. He served as general director of the Opéra National de Bordeaux from 2016 to 2021, was artistic director of the Mozart Week in Salzburg from 2013 to 2017, and was artistic advisor to the Japanese Ensemble Kanazawa from 2018 to 2022.
