Il Giardino Armonico
Giovanni Antonini Flute & Musical Direction
What started as pure joy in creating music quickly became a professional endeavour: founded in 1985, the original sound ensemble Il Giardino Armonico has long been one of the leading historically informed ensembles. It has built a reputation for its sophisticated and innovative interpretations. A key driving force behind this success is founding member and director Giovanni Antonini. For him, instinct, approach, and ear are what matter most – after all, early music requires performers to actively engage with the material, as playing instructions are scarce in historical sheet music, according to the Milanese musician. With Il Giardino Armonico, he has assembled an exquisite collection of such experts over the past few decades. Together, they will host an entire concert weekend in Ludwigsburg, with the highlight being Saturday’s captivating instrumental concert featuring Antonini in the dual role of flautist and conductor.
The concert on SAT 11. July is part of the Festival-Subscription V.
