Piotr Anderszewski Piano
For Piotr Anderszewski, a good performer must translate composers’ ideas into sound and make them tangible for the audience. However, the Polish-Hungarian pianist constantly questions his own interpretative skills. This critical self-image accompanies the meticulous musician at all times and provides the initial impulse for his piano playing. At the Forum am Schlosspark, he presents his profound work on the ideal sound with emotionally moving works by Johannes Brahms and Ludwig van Beethoven. During the last decade of his life, Brahms dedicated himself to shorter piano pieces, intermezzos and miniatures. Opera 116–119 was composed in 1892/93 in Bad Ischl, where Brahms found inspiration during his summer retreat. Clara Schumann attested that the pieces from Op. 118 contained »a wealth of emotion within the smallest framework«. Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 32 also belongs to the category of late works – the last of his extensive sonata oeuvre and thus the conclusion of the »New Testament of Piano Music,« as Hans von Bülow once called the 32 works. In his piano recital, Piotr Anderszewski invites listeners into the emotional depths of Brahms’ and Beethoven’s late works.
