Ludovic Tézier is regarded as one of the leading baritones of our time. After studying in Marseille and Paris, he enjoyed his first successes in Lucerne, Toulouse, and Lyon, from where his international career took off. Since then, he has been a regular guest at the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Opéra National de Paris, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, La Scala in Milan, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Bavarian State Opera. In addition, he regularly performs at renowned festivals, including the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Salzburg Festival, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Chorégies d’Orange, the Savonlinna Opera Festival, and the Arena di Verona Opera Festival.
Ludovic Tézier regularly collaborates with the world’s most renowned conductors, including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Myung-Whun Chung, Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Muti, Philippe Jordan, Gustavo Dudamel, and Riccardo Chailly. The French baritone has made a name for himself particularly through his interpretations of major Verdi roles, including Macbeth, Rigoletto, Simone Boccanegra, Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Ford (Falstaff), Germont (La Traviata), Posa (Don Carlo), and Don Carlo di Vargas (La forza del destino). His extensive repertoire also includes the title roles in Hamlet and Eugene Onegin, as well as Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Jelezki (The Queen of Spades), Wolfram (Tannhäuser), Scarpia (Tosca), Amfortas (Parsifal), Athanaël (Thaïs), and Barnaba (La Gioconda).
Ludovic Tézier is also a sought-after concert singer and performs with the world’s leading orchestras. He regularly gives recitals focusing on the French and German art song repertoire. In the 2025–26 season, he returns to the Teatro di San Carlo, where he will appear in »Un ballo in maschera« and »Nabucco«. He will subsequently perform »Un ballo in maschera« at the Opéra de Paris and the Berlin State Opera. At the Vienna State Opera, he will take on the title role in »Simon Boccanegra« and will also appear in »Tannhäuser«, »Tosca«, »Les pêcheurs de perles«, and »Otello«. In addition, he will take the stage as Scarpia in »Tosca« at the Bavarian State Opera.
