Basque soprano Jone Martínez has established herself as one of the most compelling voices on today’s musical scene. She began her vocal training at Musikene and later pursued further studies with Carlos Mena, developing a strong artistic affinity with historically informed performance. She is a regular collaborator with leading period ensembles such as La Cetra Barockorchester Basel and Bach Collegium Japan, and has worked under the baton of conductors including Andrea Marcon, Masaaki Suzuki, Masato Suzuki, Pierre Bleuse, David Afkham, Alexandre Bloch, Aarón Zapico, Pablo González, and Christoph König. Her appearances include performances with renowned institutions such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, Orquesta Nacional de España, the National Symphony Orchestra Washington, and Ensemble Intercontemporain. Praised for her versatility, Martínez performs a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary music. Her recent operatic debuts include leading roles in works by Händel, Cimarosa, Graupner, Parra, and Vivaldi.
