As a conductor with a unique career, Marc Hajjar combines a wide range of activities, including guest appearances with renowned orchestras, artistic direction, and the promotion of his art. He was a semifinalist at the 2015 Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors, is committed to new music, and has premiered around a hundred compositions. He conducts, among others, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Ensembles Modern, and the Ensemble Intercontemporain. As an opera assistant, he has worked with Alexandre Bloch and George Benjamin. This season, he will lead the Ensemble Contrechamps as well as the Munich and Luxembourg Chamber Orchestras in two contemporary opera diptychs. As an entrepreneur and artist, Marc Hajjar is also a co-founder of the Ensemble Nouvelles Portées, which brings orchestras to unusual venues to realize original projects. Marc is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, a violinist, and an engineer from the École Centrale.
