One of the most sought-after artists of her generation, Elim Chan embodies the spirit of contemporary orchestral conducting with her crystal-clear precision and expressive zeal. She served as Principal Conductor of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra between 2019 and 2024 and Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra between 2018 and 2023. She has collaborated with soloists including Sol Gabetta and Midori, and has made debuts at the Salzburger Festspiele, with the Orchestre de Paris, the Staatskapellen Berlin and Dresden, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Re-invitations have taken her to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, and the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, to name a few. In 2023, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León announced a three-year collaboration with Chan as Associate Conductor. A native of Hong Kong, she was the first female winner of the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in 2014, which enabled her to work as an Assistant Conductor at the London Symphony Orchestra, closely collaborating with Valery Gergiev.
