The horn quartet German Hornsound has built an international reputation with its unique concert formats and innovative programs. It regularly performs at all German-language music festivals. The quartet has appeared as soloists with renowned orchestras on international stages, including the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under Michael Sanderling, Jonathan Nott, and Paavo Järvi. They have commissioned compositions from Trygve Madsen and, most recently, Erkki-Sven Tüür. They have performed Tüür’s work with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. German Hornsound’s stage projects include the three-act opera fragment »Siegfried und Violetta« with music by Verdi and Wagner, »Pictures« based on Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, »#hornlikes«, and their current program »Primetime in der Wolfsschlucht«, inspired by Weber’s »Der Freischütz«. Collaborations with vocal ensemble amarcord and tenor Daniel Behle, along with their dedication to nurturing young talent, highlight their versatility.
