The Maulbronn Chamber Choir is the ensemble of the Maulbronn Monastery Concerts, a festival held at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Maulbronn Monastery. Founded in 1983, the choir specializes in sacred a cappella music. It also performs an oratorio at the monastery concerts each year. Since 2018, it has been dedicated to performing Mendelssohn’s entire sacred choral and symphonic works using historical performance practices. The ensemble’s diverse artistic work is documented through numerous a cappella and oratorio recordings, as well as radio broadcasts. In addition to regular invitations to some of Germany’s most renowned churches, including Stiftskirche Stuttgart, Bamberg Cathedral, and Essen Cathedral, the choir frequently performs at festivals like chor.com and the MODfestivals Marktoberdorf. It has also embarked on major tours to South America, South Africa, Namibia, Poland, France, and Switzerland. The Maulbronner Kammerchor has repeatedly won awards at international competitions, most recently taking third prize in the 2021 International Mixed Voices A Cappella Video Competition at the Cork International Choral Festival.
