Spontaneity, curiosity, and their openness to breaking new ground are the characteristics of the Schumann Quartett. In its concerts, the ensemble deliberately refrains from merely imitating works, instead allowing the audience to participate live in their development on stage. The different personalities of the brothers Mark, Erik and Ken Schumann, complemented by a changing fourth member, promote intense, nonverbal communication, resulting in an exciting, shared musical language. The four musicians charmingly undermine attempts to attribute a specific character to the quartet – they let the concerts speak for themselves. Highlights of the 2025/26 season include performances in renowned venues such as the Musikverein Wien, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam. In addition, the Schumann Quartett can be heard at renowned festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Mozartfest Bath, and the Streichquartettfest of the Heidelberger Frühling.
