For over 50 years, the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) has committed to the values of the European Union through community spirit, creativity, innovation, and performance. »Music promotes talent and understanding of the individual and society. It brings communities together and expresses beauty and values«, says the EUYO. Comprising members from all EU Member States, the vibrant orchestra exemplifies the European motto »United in diversity«. They also take pride in their 4,000 graduates, including renowned conductors, soloists, teachers, and instrumentalists who collaborate with established orchestras worldwide. The evening’s soloist, Maria Dueñas, has also benefited from the EUYO’s support and development of talented young musicians, having been a former member. Known and admired for her charisma, virtuosity, and profound sound, the violinist shares her experience with the young musicians during their joint performance.
The Ludwigsburg Festival also aims to promote young talent through various concert formats. The »Festival Finale« marks the beginning of an annual collaboration with the EUYO. For the first concert of this kind, the EUYO and Maria Duenas will perform under the baton of the promising conductor Elim Chan. Reflecting its group dynamic in Ludwigsburg, the EUYO opens with Brahms’s only violin concerto, where the solo violin does not act as a superior authority but as the driving force of the ensemble. The grand finale features the enchanting splendour of Rachmaninow’s exuberant Second Symphony.
