Marlis Petersen

Soprano

The soprano Marlis Petersen is one of the most outstanding representatives of her field. The then 17-year-old discovered singing in her home town Tuttlingen when she sang a soprano solo in a Schubert mass –without ever having taken one singing lesson. She completed vocal training at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, which was quickly followed by engagements at renowned opera houses. Petersen celebrated her big breakthrough with the role of »Lulu«, which she performed for 18 years in international productions. And even today, she is a welcome guest on stages worldwide, among others, at the opera houses in Munich, Vienna, Berlin, Paris and New York. The singer complements her versatile opera repertoire with a rich concert and song oeuvre, recorded in a discography of over 40 CDs. For her recording »Innenwelt«, OPUS Klassik named her »Singer of the Year« in 2020, the magazine »Opernwelt« awarded her this title for the fourth time. Petersen is leaving her adopted home in Greece this season to present her Lied programme in Paris, Berlin, and Ludwigsburg.
